::Taxis::
Schipol
Just outside the main doors, they are lined up ready and waiting. Bloody expensive. Will cost ya about €40 just to get to Amsterdam CS, €110 to Ijsselstein.
I know of one taxi company that offers a €49 deal to Utrecht from Schipol. You have to call them to arrange the pick-up. Usually I wait for 30 mins after calling when I collect the luggage to the taxi turning up.
Amsterdam
Can be found loitering outside Central station and the The Dam (the phallic monument). They are always Mercedes benz top of the range with sat nav, ergo expensive.
I would recommend it only if your stuck, have a house load of baggage, its an emergency or your with ya grandma!
All I can say is you also better know where your going cause you could end up on a scenic route with the clock running. Treat it like London taxis and have a bit of savv about ya.
Recently the taxis in Amsterdam station have been like arriving in Sarajevo! You fight to get a taxi to take you anywhere cos they don't want to bother with short fairs. You put up with a certain degree of bullying and insults. You may even feel threatened and vulnerable. I think this is the behavior of the "street taxi" and not typical of taxi firms you call. As mentioned above, use only in a emergency.
Utrecht
Cost us €25 to get from Ikea, utrecht with furniture to Ijsselstein.
Utrecht Cs to Ijsselstein at 04:00 cost €30. Prices are really high and keep on going up cause of the cost of oil.
They can be found outside the front of Utrecht Central Station, queuing opposite the base office.
There are 2 ways of getting a cab, get into the nearest taxi or share a taxi with other waiting punters. Simple!
Alternatives if your up for it, BIKES!!!
As they are called o'ere, Fiets. And where there's een fiets there's a way.
A reliable way of getting around. the roads were built for pedestrians, fiets, buses and cars in that order. Very cheap in comparison to taxis.
